Missional Justice for domestic helpers (February 14)
Foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong are a particularly vulnerable and marginalized group, and our God of justice has called us to reflect His particular love for them. This Chinese New Year will be a time for family celebration, yet most helpers will be facilitating their employers’ family reunions instead of gathering with their own families. This is a great opportunity for the church, as a spiritual family, to grow in loving and welcoming them.
On February 14, we’ll have a two-part program to explore what it could look like to begin seeking justice for helpers:
1. From 11:45am-12:30pm (immediately after main service), we’ll continue on Zoom with a session to equip us about Filipino culture and language, the challenges facing helpers, and how to reach out to them.
2. After lunchtime, team members will arrive at the Community Centre between 2:00-2:30pm, and we’ll put our training to practice by going out in pairs to hand out Watermark “lai see” gift packets.
