Love Offering 2024

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— He remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow.

Psalm 146 invites us to ponder God’s heart of justice; His love for the poor and powerless. When Jesus calls us to be with Him, be like Him, and do the things He did, that includes sharing in His love for justice. As we reflect on the blessing of knowing God and experiencing His incredible faithfulness to us, we are preparing to respond to that faithfulness in our annual Love Offering.
 
What is the Love Offering?
It’s a special collection for our missional justice partners: Inner City Ministries, Sons & Daughters, and YoungLives (a ministry of Young Life), who are reaching some of the most marginalised in Hong Kong: the Nepali community, red-light districts, and teen moms.
 
How can I find out more about our partners?

Sunday Spotlights: We’ll spotlight each partner during our Sunday worship services throughout March. You’ll also have the opportunity to speak to a representative of the respective ministry after each service.

Missional Justice Fair: After the final Sunday spotlight, we’ll cap off the Love Offering spotlights with the celebratory atmosphere of our annual MJ Fair. You’ll be able to interact with our MJ partners and ministries at various booths.

When and how can I donate?
You can donate anytime until March 31; this is a great time to consider maximising your tax deductions before the financial year ends. You can give in any of the following ways:
 

Bank Deposit/Transfer: Use HSBC Account No. 848 721 262 838 (note this is different from the regular offering account) and email finance@watermarkchurch.hk to indicate that your donation is for the Love Offering.

Cash/Cheque: Place in one of our special RED envelopes and drop it in an offering box at Sunday service. Please make cheques payable to “Watermark Community Church Ltd.” and indicate that the donation is for the Love Offering (use a different cheque from any regular offering). You may also mail cheques to the Watermark office:

“58 a day” food poverty experience

Did you know that low-income families in Hong Kong spend approximately $58 per day, per person, on food? That’s only about $19 per meal if you eat three meals a day! In conjunction with our Love Offering, we encourage you to take a further step in empathy and understanding towards the poor by trying to do the same: This month, choose at least one day (and ideally a few days, up to a week) and try to feed yourself healthily for $58 a day. Families and CGs, this is a great opportunity to teach your kids or simply share a meaningful experience together.
